The Bespoke Journey: What to expect

Share this

A bespoke diamond solitaire engagement ring is made especially for you, a unique piece reflecting your choice of partner and your own personality.

By ordering bespoke, you have full control over the type of stone, the budget, style and materials used. Henry Pruwer can guide you through the entire process, to make sure you get exactly what you want.Bespoke does not mean expensive, we can create an individual ring setting from £2,500, with the final cost depending on the central diamond used.

What to expect? An initial consultation to discuss your requirements usually takes place via a phone or Zoom call. This takes about 10-15 minutes and is mainly to get an idea of;

1. The occasion – engagement/anniversary/other
2. The timing – any specific date in mind?
3. The piece – a ring or something else?
4. The stone & metal etc. Do you already have ideas?
5. The budget – what price range do you have in mind?
6. Do you know the ring size? How to find this out.

A follow-up meeting will often be in person, where we can discuss further details and show you a selection of possible diamond shapes, sizes and qualities, together with settings. Seeing a diamond in real life and being able to compare it with other stones is far better than any online experience.

Once an initial design is agreed, Henry will start sourcing the right diamond, usually putting aside a selection for the client to choose from. At the same time, a CAD design for the ring is drawn up, for consideration and further refining. Once the design is accepted, we can make a wax or silver model of the piece, so the client can see exactly how the finished ring will look. Often there will be an exchange of WhatsApp pictures and videos to keep the client fully up-to date on progress.

From start to finish until the ring is ready for collection, the bespoke process can take 4-6 weeks, although in urgent cases a ring can be made in a matter of days if necessary. A deposit of 50% is payable on confirmation of the order or when the central diamond is secured for the client, with the balance due when the ring is ready for collection. The ring is delivered in a leather presentation case, together with the original GIA certificate and any other valuation documents.

As part of the bespoke process, a follow up consultation is always offered after the ring has been given, so that any adjustments or alterations to the ring size can be carried out, This service is without charge, and we also offer a free annual clean and check-up for all our bespoke rings, to make sure the claws have not become damaged through excessive wear or knocks.

We take pride in our bespoke clients developing a long-term association with us. We frequently also go on to supply bespoke matching wedding bands and other jewellery, such as stud earrings, tennis bracelets and diamond pendant necklaces.
