Whether you desire a diamond engagement ring, earrings, pendant or another piece of jewellery, we provide expert guidance. We combine the finest gemstones with beautiful designs and workmanship, to create a unique and individual jewel for you to enjoy.
We are happy to take your ideas and inspirations and turn them into a bespoke piece of jewellery. This can start with a photo or sketch of something you have seen before, or we will follow a very specific instruction. It is also possible to remodel a piece of jewellery that has sat unused in a drawer or to use heirloom stones supplied by the client.
We have experience making bespoke eternity rings, diamond earrings, necklaces, bracelets, cufflinks and many different hand-made items in gold or platinum with diamonds and other precious stones.
The Design Process
A bespoke piece of jewellery is individually made for you; we start by making a note of your wishes, asking detailed questions and developing a design brief especially for you. This is then carefully refined, taking into account your budget, timing and all other considerations.
Our job is to use our experience and expertise to present you with carefully vetted choices and combinations, so you know they will work and can have great confidence in the finished diamond jewellery piece. Whether for everyday wear or special occasions, Henry Pruwer will create a wearable, practical and beautiful piece.
So what’s first?
Sometimes a client comes to us with a specific piece of jewellery in mind, or we can advise on the options. A bespoke diamond jewel can be based on important centre stones, such as two matching diamonds for earrings, or alternatively, we can make a piece of jewellery based on a ‘layout’ of different shapes, sizes and colours of stones, to create a truly bespoke piece.
Once we have a clear idea of the brief, we make some sketches, prepare a selection of suitable stones, and work out the timing and budget. We will only proceed once the client has approved a written quotation, this will include a detailed specification of the piece, including carat weight and diamond quality.
Bespoke diamond jewellery pieces are often commissioned for a specific event or occasion, so we make sure there will be sufficient time to complete the piece, carefully check the quality, and deliver it as required and perfectly packaged. The more time we have, the easier it will be to refine the designs and source the perfect stones to suit the piece. Bespoke diamond jewellery pieces can take anything from 2-3 weeks to several months to complete, depending on the complexity of the jewellery to be made.
From our base in Hatton Garden, we coordinate our team of specialists, who each play a vital part in the creation of each bespoke piece of jewellery. Our experts have the experience and depth of knowledge to interpret the design brief and translate our client’s wishes into the reality of a perfect jewel. As we are often working to a strict delivery deadline, it is crucial to manage the project efficiently and without compromising on quality.
We provide you with regular updates at each stage of the process. Our clients enjoy being involved, from initial design through to the exciting final stages, when the piece takes shape, the stones are set, and the jewel is ready for polishing. In this way, the client feels it is their piece, made with specially chosen stones, and according to their exact wishes.
Creating Your Bespoke Jewellery
As diamond specialists, we will advise on the best choice of diamonds for your bespoke piece of jewellery. Before committing to any particular gemstones for a bespoke piece, we will present you with a vetted selection to choose from. Whether for a necklace, earrings or other piece, finding stones with the right proportions are key to making a jewel that looks perfect. We work with specialist dealers for other gemstones to source the finest rubies, emeralds, sapphires, tanzanites and other stones that go into our bespoke jewellery.
A picture found on Instagram or other social media is often the inspiration for choosing a particular piece. We always strive to create completely original jewels, where the beauty of the diamonds can be appreciated. Movement in a piece of jewellery is very important, especially for necklaces, earrings and pendants. Not only must the jewel sit well and be comfortable when worn, it is also the subtle movements of the piece that highlight the sparkle of the diamonds.
The three broad categories of earrings are studs, drop earrings and chandeliers. Studs are single stones or small clusters of stones in a single setting that sits directly on the earlobe. Drop earrings will have a section of the earring that hangs below the ear. Finally, as the name suggests, chandeliers are the grandest earrings with several strands, groups or clusters of diamonds that hand from a central earpiece. Whichever type of earring you prefer, we will advise on the best stones and the most attractive setting. Comfort is also an important factor when making bespoke earrings, they need to sit well on the ear, look stunning and yet be easy to wear.
Diamond Stud Earrings
A pair of diamond stud earrings is very high on the diamond jewellery wish list for most girls. The simple reason is that diamond studs are easy to wear, add elegance to any outfit and sparkle beautifully. The choice of diamonds is crucial, as these stones are to be seen at eye level, so their colour and clarity will be much more noticeable. We advise on the best choice of stones, carefully matched, and the perfect setting, hand made in platinum or white gold.
Diamond tennis bracelet
We keep a selection of ready-made diamond tennis bracelets in stock, as they are a very popular choice and easy to wear for any occasion or just every day. Our diamond tennis bracelets are made with carefully chosen matching round brilliant diamonds and are available in different sizes and colour grades. We can also make a bespoke diamond tennis bracelet for you, using only the finest certified diamonds, for the ultimate luxury sparkling investment.
Sky's the limit when it comes to choosing a bespoke diamond necklace! Whether you are looking for a classic diamond tennis necklace or something much more elaborate, we can help and advise you on the best choices. A simple bespoke diamond pendant can be very beautiful, especially with the right choice of centre stone and setting. A diamond solitaire pendant can also make a fabulous evening piece, set with a larger fancy coloured diamond.
It's beautiful and it fits perfectly and comfortably. It's also much smoother on the edges. Thanks for resizing it.
Choosing the right stone
Of course, a natural diamond would be our first recommendation for a bespoke piece of jewellery, as the range of options is very wide, with a stone to suit almost any budget and taste. Starting with round brilliant diamonds, there are countless permutations of shape, size, colour and clarity. These stones can be combined in a bespoke piece of jewellery to make something truly special and unique. Fancy coloured diamonds are also popular in bespoke jewellery, and we are specialists in sourcing and matching the finest fancy yellow diamonds, to produce exceptional pieces.
Precious coloured stones
Emeralds, rubies and sapphires each have their own individual appeal, and a piece of bespoke jewellery using one of these precious stones, perhaps surrounded by white diamonds, can create a jewel with its own personality. We can help source the perfect stone to suit your design, using our experienced craftsmen to produce exquisite jewels.
Tanzanite is a particular favourite of ours. Being a very rare stone, it is not yet as expensive as diamonds, meaning that for a more reasonable budget, one can have a fabulous big stone that makes a design and colour statement! The best tanzanite stones have a deep lustre, shimmering with colour and character. Tanzanite is not as hard as diamond, so we would recommend it for earrings or pendants, but in our opinion not for everyday rings.
